In fact, our spray tan system was specifically chosen because the pH adjusters and violet-brown undertones help counteract unwanted orange tones. Combined with our prep process and priming mitt, many clients actually notice redness and uneven undertones appear more balanced after spraying.

At the end of the day, there are some things Sunny Shores cannot fully control, like extremely dry skin, hormones, medications, improper skincare, leaving the solution on too long, or how your individual skin chemistry reacts. Spray tanning uses DHA, which reacts with the skin similarly to how an apple browns after being cut. Nature is never perfectly predictable, but we do our absolute best to guide you before, during, and after your spray to give you the best possible result.

Our best-selling Venetian tan, now in a RAPID formula for fast results.

This solution uses cool violet-brown undertones and VIO-7 anti-orange bronzers to create a natural-looking tan without the overly warm orange appearance many people fear.

Rapid rinse times:

Our clear solution gives a gorgeous natural tan WITHOUT the heavy cosmetic bronzer.

The clear blend is infused with antioxidant-rich botanicals including:

Clear sprays usually develop over 6 to 12 hours and can last up to a week with proper care.

Our Prep Perfector, included in every spray tan, helps balance skin pH levels for deeper, darker, and more even color development. Many clients notice visible development beginning in as little as 2 hours.

It also contains antioxidant-rich grape seed extract to support healthier-looking skin.

Then comes HYDRATE, also included in every spray at no extra charge.

This is NOT just a moisturizer.

Our WellFit HYDRATE treatment uses a Tri-Hydro Boost Complex with multiple molecular weights of hydration technology designed to target different layers of the skin for up to 24 hours of moisture support.

✨ 24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR SPRAY ✨

Shower, wash your hair and condition FIRST, exfoliate, and shave.

Hair products and conditioner residue absolutely can interfere with spray tan development.

For exfoliating, we recommend our Selfie Primer or pre-spray exfoliant. For shaving, use Head to Glow in-shower lotion and avoid razors with lotion bars attached because they can repel solution or create uneven development.

After prep, avoid lotions, oils, perfumes, deodorants, or heavy skincare products before your appointment.

✨ IN THE SPRAY ROOM ✨

First, use the prep buffing mitt. This removes leftover residue, smooths dead skin, helps reduce shave lines, and creates a more spray-tan-friendly surface.

Age, hormones, medications, skincare routines, and pH changes can all affect spray tan development, which is why prep matters SO much.

THEN comes hand prep.

Hands are DRY AF and absorb spray tan like a dry sponge. That is where most spray tan complaints happen.

We use jojoba oil and barrier cream heavily on hands, lightly on wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, and feet to help create a softer, more natural transition.

Wear loose, baggy clothing while your tan develops.

Rinse in COOL water only.

If using Rapid, you WILL see cosmetic color rinse away. That is normal. Your actual tan is still developing underneath.

With Clear, you may not see much rinse off, but you can feel the solution slipping away.

✨ PLEASE DO NOT GO TOO DARK ✨

One of the biggest mistakes we see is clients choosing a color far too dark for their complexion.

Sometimes people instantly say “orange” when the issue is really that the tan simply looks too dramatic or unnatural on their skin tone.

General recommendations:

☀️ Fair skin: usually Level 1

☀️ Fair skin with an active tan: often Level 2

☀️ Naturally darker skin or active tanners: Level 2 or 3

☀️ Level 4: honestly rare for most people to wear naturally

✨ TIMING MATTERS ✨

Spray 2 to 3 days before your event whenever possible.

The first 24 hours can look flat and overly uniform. Giving the tan a couple days to settle allows your natural contours and skin tone to come back through more naturally.

✨ AFTERCARE IS EVERYTHING ✨

Use products MADE for spray tans. If you don't buy it from us, don't use it.

Many everyday products strip color, cause patchiness, or interfere with fading. Hydrated skin holds spray tans better and fades more evenly.

And remember, hands naturally fade weird first because they are constantly washed and naturally dry. That is why we often recommend lightly rinsing hands shortly after getting home if they appear overly dark.
